About Steph Strine
Hi! I’m Steph. I’m a sober woman based out of New York City. I am a dog mom to two mini labradoodles named Decker & Calvin and a United States Marine Corps veteran. reSSil is my life’s passion project.
I grew up in Cornwall, New York…a small town about an hour north of New York City. I have a big military family. My:
parents went to West Point
sister is a reservist in the Army
stepdad retired as an Colonel from the Army
stepbrother is currently a Captain in the Army
And the majority of my extended family has served or is serving in the military.
Oh…and I served almost eight years in the Marine Corps! Perserverance and discipline is a huge part of my story.
impactful and intentional movement, inspiring you to be YOU
I’ve been an athlete my entire life. I played soccer competitively from the age of five until my last match in 2015 where I played for the Women’s Armed Forces team at the Military World Games in Mungyeong, South Korea. I was introduced to yoga in 2006 by a mentor (and one of my soccer coaches) and quickly fell in love with the physical relief my yoga practice offered. I played D-1 soccer at the Naval Academy for three years where I met some of my best friends and was influenced by my teammates and officer representatives to become a Marine Corps Second Lieutenant upon graduation/commissioning.
I received my first 200-hour yoga certification while I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I didn’t know then but this was the initial start of my re-awakening. I taught on base to local patrons as well as service-members and their dependents. I returned to the states in 2016 and became certified in Yoga Sculpt from CorePower Yoga in San Diego, California. Shortly after, I received another 200-hour certification from CorePower Yoga for Hot Yoga. In March 2020, I received my personal trainer certification and started to expand my aperture in group-fitness. If I wasn’t at my actual job, I was teaching or taking class OR prepping for my classes or a training. I left my high paying corporate job in December 2022 and moved with my doodles to the Big Apple, where I have always wanted my dream to launch.
Sprinkled throughout my life were little specks (that added up to a LOT of big splatters) of my higher power guiding me to becoming sober. June 16, 2018 is one of the most important days of my life. This was the first day that I did not have a drink or take a self-prescribed drug. I finally surrendered to alcohol, accepted that my life was unmanageable, and came to rely upon a power greater than myself to restore me to sanity. I became willing to go into the dark areas of my life that were once covered by booze, bad decisions, and shame…and decided that there was an easier, softer way. I recently celebrated SIX years of sobriety in June 2024!
I founded reSSil in March 2023 after years of thinking that I could never start my own business doing what I love and am actually incredibly talented at. I have always enjoyed helping others to become the best version of themselves…it’s one of the main reasons why I received my master’s in Organizational Leadership and am a fitness instructor. reSSil combines the two things that I am most passionate about: sobriety and fitness.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from difficult times in life. I’ve found that the most difficult times in my life have been when I was forced to grow from something that was no longer serving me. I’m here to help you get through whatever you are going through, big or small. Whether it’s sobriety or wellness related, I am here to help you achieve your goals.
xoxo,
Steph
